Free public transport in Macao on Dec. 20 for 25th SAR Anniversary
According to a directive from the Chief Executive of Macao, passengers will enjoy free rides on the Macao Light Rail Transit (LRT) and public buses on December 20 to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR). This Friday (December 20), all Macao residents and visitors can travel for free on TCM buses, Transmac buses, and the Macao LRT.
TCM has announced that all passengers can ride its entire bus network for free on that day without paying any fare, regardless of the payment method. Transmac will deploy additional frontline and support staff across key stations to ensure safety and smooth operations in preparation for the event.
Similarly, Transmac has confirmed that passengers will not need to pay fares on its buses from the first to the last service on December 20. No payment methods, such as cards or QR codes, will be required. New Era advises passengers to maintain orderly queuing during peak hours and follow the instructions of on-site staff. Passengers needing assistance can consult frontline personnel.
The Macao LRT has also announced that passengers will not need tickets during the free ride period. Travelers can follow the staff instructions to enter and exit the turnstiles.
