Shenzhen's 1st land port departure tax refund pilot program launched at Wenjindu Port

Shenzhen's first land port departure tax refund pilot program was launched at the Wenjindu Port yesterday (Dec. 16), providing a new option for overseas travelers to handle departure tax refund services.

A Hong Kong resident completed the refund process in just five minutes, praising its convenience, with the actual refund amount being about 9%, equivalent to enjoying a discount of approximately 10%.

Hong Kong residents can apply for tax refunds on personal goods purchased at 337 designated tax refund stores in Shenzhen that meet the refund criteria. After deducting a 2% service fee from the tax refund agency, the actual refund amount is around 9%, equating to a 10% discount.

According to the authorities, the launch of the departure tax refund pilot program at Wenjindu Port will effectively ease the inconvenience faced by Hong Kong travelers who need to return to Bao'an International Airport or Shekou Cruise Center for processing refunds, reducing travel costs and further stimulate consumption willingness.

The departure tax refund pilot center at Wenjindu Port, which opened yesterday, is located in the southwest corner of the second floor of the joint inspection building, covering an area of 12.39 square meters.

It integrates customs inspection and bank tax refund services. Overseas travelers, when departing, only need to carry valid identification documents to apply for the refund of the VAT paid on personal goods purchased at designated tax refund stores.
