China's Visa-Free Transit Policy fully optimized, allowing cross-regional travels with stay duration of 240 hours
On Dec. 17, the National Immigration Administration announced the comprehensive optimization of the Visa-Free Transit Policy. The stay duration for visa-exempt foreign nationals in transit has been extended from the original 72 and 144 hours to 240 hours (10 days). Additionally, 21 new entry and exit points have been added for transit visa-exempt individuals, further expanding the areas where they can stay and engage in activities.
Eligible nationals from 54 countries, including Russia, Brazil, the UK, the US, and Canada, can transit through China to a third country or region without a visa at any of the 60 open ports across 24 provinces (regions, municipalities) and can stay in designated areas for up to 240 hours. Unlike the previous 72/144-hour transit visa exemption policy, the key feature of this adjustment is the allowance for cross-regional movement, enabling visa-exempt foreign nationals to travel between provinces within the designated stay areas.
