Police receives 12 reports regarding Han Academy, involving about HK$6.2 mn
Private school Han Academy is facing a "bond crisis", with some parents complaining that they have not received a refund of HK$600,000 for school bonds after their children quit school.
In response to inquiries, the police stated that as of yesterday (Dec. 11), the Western Divisional Police Station had received reports from 12 citizens. They indicated that they purchased school bonds when their children enrolled in the school on Wong Chuk Hang Road in Aberdeen, but after their children withdrew, the related amounts were not refunded. The total amount involved is approximately HK$6.2 million.
The case has been classified as a "request for police investigation", with no arrests made at this time.
The Education Bureau stated last night (Dec. 11) that it has been closely monitoring the management and financial situation of Han Academy. So far, it has received complaints from three parents regarding the school's failure to refund the bonds. The Bureau has immediately contacted the school and urged it to refund the amounts as per the agreement as soon as possible.
