A fire broke out at a shipyard on Shum Wan Road, Aberdeen, at 4:11 p.m. today (Dec. 6). The fire was upgraded to a level-3 alarm at 4:45 p.m., prompting an intensive firefighting operation by the Hong Kong Fire Services Department. As of 7:15 p.m., the blaze has been brought under control. Authorities advise residents impacted by smoke and odors to stay calm, keep doors and windows closed, and remain indoors.
No casualties have been reported so far. At least nine people (five men and four women) were evacuated to safety. Firefighters employed two fireboat-mounted water cannons, four water jets, and four breathing apparatus teams to combat the flames.

By 6:25 p.m., reporters on the scene observed the fire gradually coming under control as firefighters continued to enter the site to extinguish lingering flames.
Witnesses near the scene reported multiple small explosions, likely caused by a large quantity of marine gasoline stored at the site. Police confirmed that, as of 5:46 p.m., there were no fatalities or incidents of smoke inhalation.
Thick black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky, with a strong smell of burning detected within several hundred meters of the area. Numerous fire engines and police vehicles were deployed, with firefighters racing against time to contain the fire while police maintained order at the scene.
