Giant bow Christmas decoration catches fire in Tokyo, with passers-by mistaking it for special effect
As Christmas approaches, many luxury shop owners have adorned the windows with festive decorations to enhance the holiday atmosphere. However, on the evening of Dec. 2, a fire broke out at a luxury store located in Ginza, Tokyo.
A giant bow Christmas decoration in the store caught fire for unknown reasons. The staff immediately attempted to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher, and multiple customers were evacuated. The fire was extinguished before firefighters arrived, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Customers who were inside the store at the time later posted online, stating that they were asked to leave the store immediately. They paid the bills 15 minutes after the fire was put out,, and the store offered masks and water.
According to Japanese media, the fire was caused by the oversized Christmas bow on the store's exterior. Employees on-site mentioned that after they turned on the lights, the bow suddenly ignited.
Photos and videos of the fire spread widely on social media. Some customers at the scene reported that they were shopping when the fire started, and "everyone was evacuated outside".
Others noted that many passersby stopped to watch, mistakenly thinking it was a special effect for a performance.
Some netizens expressed shock upon seeing the footage, describing the fire as "beautiful".
