The latest figures from the Hospital Authority indicate that, as of the end of November this year, there have been 4 successful cases of adult heart transplants. Currently, 75 people are waiting for heart transplants, of which about 85% require the use of an artificial heart to sustain their lives, with an average waiting time of 2 to 3 years for a suitable heart.
The Hospital Authority mentioned that a few years ago, they introduced an Organ Care System to increase the chances of successful transplants. So far, there have been 3 successful cases, but the number of donors remains persistently low, which is concerning.
