Macron takes world on first tour inside Paris's restored Notre-Dame Cathedral
After five years of painstaking restoration work, French President Emmanuel Macron conducted a televised tour of the first look at the fully restored Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, set to finally reopen with ceremonies beginning on Dec. 7 after being partially destroyed in a 2019 fire.
From Dec. 8 to 15, Notre-Dame Cathedral will be open to visitors from 3:30 pm to 10:00 pm. After Dec. 15, it will return to its pre-fire opening hours of 7:45 am to 7:00 pm.
Once reopened, Notre-Dame Cathedral is said to be expected to welcome between 14 and 15 million visitors a year.
According to reports from French media, the restoration work of Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris has amounted to almost 700 million euros. The cause of the fire, which is still under investigation, appears to have been accidental.
