Notre Dame de Paris AR immersive exhibition debuts in HK on Dec. 8
The highly anticipated "Notre Dame de Paris Augmented Exhibition" is set to open in Hong Kong's West Kowloon Cultural District on Dec. 8, 2024. Organized by Visionairs, a French cultural and educational pioneer, the exhibition coincides with the reopening of the iconic cathedral in Paris after five years of restoration following the devastating 2019 fire.
The exhibition offers a journey through more than 800 years of Notre Dame's history, from its origins in the 12th century to its recent reconstruction. Visitors will receive a HistoPadTM touchscreen tablet developed by Histovery, which supports 13 languages, including English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Using augmented reality (AR), visitors will be guided to explore 20 key moments in the cathedral's history, such as King Henry IV's grand wedding, Napoleon Bonaparte's coronation, and the construction of Notre Dame's spire.
The experience also features historical artifacts and AR reconstructions, including replicas of gargoyles, projections of the surviving rose windows, sculptures, and immersive soundscapes of the cathedral's organ and bells. Families can participate in interactive activities, such as taking selfies with fantastical gargoyle overlays or collecting virtual stained glass fragments in a treasure hunt game.
