Multiple Trump cabinet nominees and appointees receive violent bomb threats
According to reports from FOX News and other US media outlets, a series of violent threats have been directed at individuals nominated for key positions in Donald Trump's administration. Among the targets are Pete Hegseth, nominated for Secretary of Defense, and John Ratcliffe, nominated for CIA Director.
On Nov. 27, local time, Trump's transition spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the Trump appointees "were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them".
Matt Gaetz, who recently withdrew from consideration for Attorney General, revealed that he received a bomb threat, prompting the US government to dispatch a bomb disposal unit to address the situation.
Leavitt stated that the threats include planting bombs, swatting, and even direct invasions of nominees' residences. Other individuals reportedly receiving threats include Lee Zeldin, nominated for administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, and Elise Stefanik, nominated as US Ambassador to the United Nations.
A White House spokesperson said that President Joe Biden has been briefed on the matter and strongly condemned the violent threats. The spokesperson added that the White House is coordinating with federal law enforcement agencies and Trump's team to address the situation.
In response, Trump's team expressed gratitude for the swift action taken by law enforcement authorities.
