'35+' subversion case: Four convicted defendants file appeals against convictions and sentences
Four defendants convicted in the "35+ Subversion Case" have filed appeals against their convictions and sentences, according to court records. The case, which concluded sentencing last Tuesday (Nov. 19), saw 45 defendants sentenced to prison terms ranging from 4 years and 2 months to 10 years. Among them, four individuals—Chow Ka-shing, Wong Pik-wan, Yuen Ka-wai, and Yu Wai-ming—were convicted after trial and sentenced to prison terms ranging from 6 years and 6 months to 7 years and 9 months.
Court records indicate that the appeal applications were submitted to the High Court on Nov. 26, but no hearing dates have been scheduled yet.
Chow received the heaviest sentence among the four, with a prison term of 7 years and 9 months. Former chairperson of the Hospital Authority Employees Alliance, Yu Wai-ming, was sentenced to 6 years and 9 months. Former Legislative Council member Wong Pik-wan and former Wan Chai District Council member Yuen Ka-wai were each sentenced to 6 years and 6 months.
