NVIDIA's Jensen Huang to visit HKUST tomorrow
The global market value leader in AI chips, NVIDIA, will see its CEO, Jensen Huang, visit Hong Kong to attend an honorary doctorate ceremony at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) on November 23. Huang will be awarded an honorary Doctorate.
The ceremony will also honor three other distinguished individuals: actor Tony Leung, renowned biochemist Professor Michael Levitt, and American mathematician Professor David Mumford. The university stated that the honorary degrees aim to recognize the significant achievements and contributions of these four individuals to society.
Huang is expected to give a speech at the ceremony and will likely stay in Hong Kong for several days, participating in various public events and visiting places like the Hong Kong Science Park.
This will be Huang's first public visit to China in several years. In January 2024, he attended internal annual meetings at NVIDIA's offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen but did not have any public events scheduled.
Jensen Huang is a Chinese-American entrepreneur and electrical engineer who moved to the US at the age of nine. He earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Oregon State University and a master's degree from Stanford University in 1992. In 1993, he co-founded NVIDIA.
