Gongbei Port trials 'document-free' channel enhancing efficiency of border crossings
Starting from midnight today (Nov. 20), the Gongbei Port has trialed the "document-free" channel.
Mr. Li, a traveler from Macao, successfully entered Zhuhai through facial recognition, becoming one of the first travelers in the country to enter without presenting ID cards. He said, "Now I can pass through without showing my ID card, which is much more convenient."
According to DotDotNews reporters, the "document-free" channel at Gongbei Port includes 20 lanes for both entry and exit, with plans to gradually open additional lanes and expand to other ports.
Hu Hongyu, deputy director of the Gongbei Border Inspection Station, stated that the "document-free" channel, which replaces ID checks with facial recognition, simplifies the inspection process for travelers. This will further enhance the efficiency of border crossings and improve the travel experience for passengers.
