Duty-free limit for mainland visitors to HK, Macao to be raised
China's commerce ministry announced Friday (June 28) to raise the duty-free shopping quota for mainland visitors to Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
It was announced that the duty-free allowance for Mainland resident travelers carrying baggage from Hong Kong to the Mainland would be increased from the existing RMB5,000 to RMB12,000, while the policy of purchasing an additional RMB3,000 of duty-free goods at duty-free stores at the boundary control points would be retained, with a total allowance of RMB15,000.
Starting from July 1, 2024, the measure will first be implemented at six control points, namely Lo Wu, Futian, Shenzhen Bay, West Kowloon Station, Gongbei, and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Zhuhai Highway; and starting from August 1, 2024, the measure will be extended to all entry control points (except the Hengqin "first-line" Control Point).
