US judge delays ruling on whether to throw out Trump's conviction in hush money case
According to a report by CCTV, the verdict in the hush money case involving Donald Trump, originally scheduled for Nov. 26, has been postponed.
Court records were updated on the scheduled date, but no explanation was provided for the delay. Meanwhile, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg faces a deadline to submit recommendations to the court on how the case should proceed.
US media reports indicate that Judge Juan Merchant is still deliberating whether to deliver a verdict, delay the trial for four years, or dismiss the case altogether.
Trump was originally set to face judgment in the New York hush money case on Nov. 26. On May 30, a New York jury found Trump guilty on all 34 criminal charges brought by the prosecution.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg charged Trump in March last year, accusing him of falsifying business records to conceal a US$130,000 hush money payment to an adult film actress ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Trump has denied all charges and denied any involvement with the woman.
