Republicans to secure control of both houses of Congress

The Republican Party has solidified its hold on power in Washington, with CNN projecting on Wednesday (Nov. 13) that the GOP will retain its majority in the House of Representatives. This development ensures that when President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated on Jan. 20, Republicans will control the White House and Congress, including both the House and Senate.

Republicans are expected to secure at least 218 of the 435 seats in the House, giving them a decisive majority. The GOP's dominance was confirmed after projections showed the party holding onto two key seats in California and Arizona, further cementing their control of both chambers of Congress.

With this stronghold in Congress, Trump will have a clearer path to implement his ambitious agenda, which could bring significant changes to the country, including major tax reforms, stricter immigration policies, and shifts in both domestic and foreign policies.

CNN also highlighted that Trump's political power extends beyond Congress, particularly after a recent Supreme Court ruling that grants substantial immunity to the president for official actions. This ruling could give Trump greater confidence in exercising executive power. Furthermore, over the next four years, Trump may have the opportunity to replace older members of the court, potentially extending until the middle of the century the conservative majority he built in his first term.
