The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) issued Warning Signal No. 3 at 3:40 p.m. today (Sept. 9).

According to the Observatory, Tropical Cyclone Yinxing will cross the northern part of the South China Sea today and tomorrow (10th), with strong winds along the Guangdong coastline and a few squalls of wind and rain.

As the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 is now in force, classes of kindergartens, schools for children with physical disability and schools for children with intellectual disability are suspended today. These schools, however, should keep their premises open and implement contingency measures to look after arriving students. They should ensure that conditions are safe before allowing students to return home.

The Marine Department reminds vessel owners, masters and persons-in-charge of vessels that they should take precautionary measures immediately and properly secure their vessels at safe locations.

The Social Welfare Department announces that child care centers, centers providing after school care programs, elderly services centers and day rehabilitation units including sheltered workshops, integrated vocational rehabilitation services centers, integrated vocational training centers and day activity centers, which normally operate on Saturdays, remain open during their normal operating hours. If necessary, members of the public can contact the centers to make arrangements for the safe return home of their children and family members.
