HKO issues Standby Signal No. 1
At 12.40 pm today, as Tropical Cyclone Yinxing approaches the coast of southern China, the Observatory issued Standby Signal No. 1.
Under the combined effect of Yinxing and the northeast monsoon, it will be windier over the coast of Guangdong and on high ground over the weekend.
Seas will be rough with swells and there will be showers.
Since the circulation of Yinxing was relatively small, whether a higher tropical cyclone signal would issued would depend on how close the storm got to the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong. according to the Observatory.
