US presidential election | Bomb threat received at Pennsylvania polls
The US presidential election officially opened on Nov. 5 (local time), a number of states have received bomb threats at polling stations.
According to CCTV news cited CNN reported that an election official said the evening of the US, West Chester, Pennsylvania, the location of a voting service center received a bomb threat. Police dogs are currently searching the government building, and if nothing unusual is found, services will resume soon.
Separately, a Democrat asked a judge to extend the polling hours at a polling place near Lehigh University in Pennsylvania until 22:00 (US Eastern Time) to address the problem of four-hour-long lines. A judge denied the request, saying registered voters in line at 20:00 (US Eastern Time) will be able to cast their ballots.
Three key swing states, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin, were earlier threatened with bombs, but so far none of the threats have been determined to be credible. Georgia alone has reportedly received 24 false bomb threats, most of them in Fulton County.
Because of time zone differences and state regulations, polls closed at different times on the day. The latest state to close the polls was Alaska, which closed at 1:00 a.m. US Eastern Time (14:00 Hong Kong time on Nov. 6).
