US presidential election | 2 Missouri poll workers killed in flooding
According to CCTV News, two poll workers in Missouri died during extreme flooding on Nov. 5 (local time).
The man and woman drowned after their vehicle was swept off a highway in Wright County in floodwaters, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The incident was reported around 4:30 a.m. local time near Beaver Creek.
According to state authorities, the victims, a 70-year-old man and a 73-year-old lady from Manes, Missouri, were discovered dead at around 8:45 a.m. local time.
The couple were poll workers in the county, the Wright County Clerk's Office said.
Nov. 5 is the official polling day for the US presidential election. Because of time zone differences and different state regulations, the polls close at different times in different states on that day. The latest state to close its polls was Alaska, at 1:00 a.m. US Eastern time (14:00 HK time) on Nov. 6.
