Italian president's visit to China underscores high level of Sino-Italian relations: FM spokesperson
Italian President Sergio Mattarella will pay a state visit to China from Nov. 7 to 12 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced today (Nov. 5).
Foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said in today's regular press conference that during his visit, President Mattarella will meet with President Xi Jinping to discuss future plans for Sino-Italian relations.
Mao stressed that both China and Italy, as ancient civilizations and major global economies, share a strong foundation for friendly cooperation, which aligns with their common interests and contributes to the healthy development of China-Europe relations and global stability.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President Mattarella's visits to China underscore the high level of Sino-Italian relations. China is ready to work with Italy to further deepen political trust, expand practical cooperation, enhance people-to-people exchanges, and promote mutual learning between civilizations, injecting more stability into a world facing increasing uncertainty, she said.
