Caricature: Has-been president
On Monday, Oct. 28, US President Joe Biden cast an early ballot in his home state of Delaware, showing his support for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. However, according to sources cited by US news outlet Axios, Biden has recently expressed a desire to campaign for Harris, only to be met with a lukewarm response from her team.
According to insiders, Biden had initially set aside several days to join Harris at campaign events in the final stretch before the election day. However, Harris' team has been slow to respond to Biden's offer, merely stating that they would get back to him. Axios notes that the cold shoulder stems from Harris' team's belief that Biden has become a "political liability" at this crucial moment in the campaign. Yet, they are reluctant to reject him outright, highlighting the careful balancing act by Democrats — and even some of Biden's own staff — to protect the 81-year-old president's ego and feelings.
