
The Hurun Research Institute released the Hurun Rich List 2024 for China. The total wealth of entrepreneurs on the list is RMB 21 trillion, down 10% from last year (RMB 2.4 trillion).
Zhang Yiming, 41, of ByteDance, with a fortune of RMB 350 billion, was listed as China's richest person for the first time.
Zhong Shanshan, 70, founder of Nongfu Spring, ranked second with a fortune of RMB 340 billion.
Tencent's 53-year-old Ma Huateng ranked third with a fortune of RMB 315 billion.
Pinduoduo's Huang Zheng ranked fourth with a fortune of RMB 245 billion. The father-and-son duo, Li Ka-shing and Li Tzar-kuoi, ranked sixth with a fortune of RMB 200 billion, while Jack Ma's family ranked tenth with a fortune of RMB 165 billion.
The top three cities with the highest concentration of entrepreneurs on the list are Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, with Shanghai overtaking Shenzhen to rank second this year, followed by Hong Kong and Hangzhou.
There are 153 entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, 11 more than last year, with the percentage of the total number of entrepreneurs rising by 3% to 14%. Among them, 97 were from Taiwan, 15 more than last year; 56 from Hong Kong, 4 less than last year.
