About 20 trial events to be arranged gradually to test Kai Tak Sports Park: Eric Chan
Around 20 trial events will be arranged to test the new Kai Tak Sports Park, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Eric Chan Kwok-ki, said at the media session after the first test event on Oct. 27.
In response to the doubt about whether testing one-fifth of the seating capacity here is adequate in reflecting the actual load of the stadium, Chan said that this was the first time the authorities did the test event.
"We start from the small scale, but gradually, as I said, we will arrange around 20 trial events. By that time, we will have increased the number of people to up to 50,000."
Previously, Chan noted that the first test run for the main stadium will be in January of next year.
For that, a journalist raised a question, "Given that in March there will be mega events held, do you think that there should be more sort of test runs before that?"
"We are confident that with all these arrangements and preparations before we formally and officially open the stadium, we will have sufficiently tested everything," Chan answered, "and I have full confidence in that."
