National civil aviation sector to begin implementing flight schedule for 2024/25 winter-spring season: CAAC
According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), from October 27, 2024, to March 29, 2025, the national civil aviation sector will begin implementing the flight schedule for the 2024/25 winter-spring season. A total of 194 domestic and international airlines plan to operate 118,000 passenger and cargo flights weekly during the new season.
For domestic routes, 49 domestic airlines plan to schedule 95,968 flights weekly (excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan), representing a 33% increase compared to the 2019/20 winter-spring season.
In terms of Hong Kong routes, approvals have been granted for 26 airlines to operate 1,734 weekly passenger and cargo flights between 44 destinations in mainland China and Hong Kong.
For cross-strait routes, 21 airlines have been approved to operate 742 weekly passenger and cargo flights between 18 destinations on the mainland and four destinations in Taiwan, including Taoyuan.
Regarding international routes, the CAAC has approved applications for 19,327 weekly passenger and cargo flights from 178 domestic and international airlines, connecting to 79 foreign countries.
A relevant official from the CAAC stated that international routes will further resume in an orderly manner during the new season. Several domestic and foreign airlines are increasing their flights on passenger routes based on market demand.
For example, United Airlines plans to increase its Los Angeles to Pudong Shanghai route from four to seven flights per week. Among domestic airlines, Air China plans to launch new flights from Urumqi to Tbilisi, Beijing to Almaty, Tashkent, and Cairo; China Eastern Airlines plans to introduce new flights from Shanghai to Cairo; and China Southern Airlines plans to resume flights from Guangzhou to Perth, Australia.
