RMB1.5 mn for journey of universe? Deep Blue Aerospace announces space travel tickets
Chinese startup Deep Blue Aerospace announced on Thursday (Oct. 24) that it will be selling two tickets for a space journey in 2027, priced at RMB1.5 million each.
The company's chairman, Huo Liang, will appear on a Taobao livestream show at 6 p.m. tonight to discuss the progress and plans for the company's commercial manned spacecraft.
During the show, a presale event for the inaugural suborbital manned space travel in 2027 will be launched. According to the announcement, the full price for a suborbital space trip ticket is RMB1.5 million, with a deposit of RMB50,000 required. To ensure the smooth execution of the trip, which includes a physical fitness assessment, the balance must be paid in person at Deep Blue Aerospace's R&D center in Beijing upon signing the contract.
There are several requirements for those wishing to travel to space. Deep Blue Aerospace recommends that passengers be between the ages of 18 and 60, with exceptions decided after a medical evaluation. Passengers must also participate in pre-flight safety training, and personal items will be restricted. Furthermore, if a passenger needs to reschedule for personal reasons, one free change of booking is allowed with six months' notice.
The trip will utilize Deep Blue Aerospace's Nebula-1 rocket, the first domestically produced rocket capable of orbital reentry and reuse. The company highlights that reusable rockets are key to reducing the cost of space tourism and claims to have maintained a leading position in this field for several years.
