Cathay Pacific Group and Airbus SE held a celebration ceremony for an order of 150 aircraft. During the event, Cathay Pacific Group's CEO, Ronald Lam, announced that the airline plans to invest over HK$100 billion in the next seven years, primarily for fleet development.
The second batch of Airbus planes, scheduled for delivery in 2026, will be utilized by Cathay Pacific and HK Express; the 2027 deliveries will enhance cargo capacity; and starting in 2028, the new A330 models will begin to be delivered, said Lam.
Lam also mentioned that this year, Cathay Pacific and HK Express will add 15 new destinations, with HK Express alone introducing nine new routes. He expressed hopes that the group could expand its network to 100 destinations next year.
Lam shared plans to upgrade lounge facilities, with new lounges expected to open next year at airports in Beijing and New York. The renovation of the lounges in Hong Kong is set to be completed by 2026.
Cathay Chief Operations and Service Delivery Officer, Alex McGowan, expressed strong confidence in Hong Kong's long-term future as an aviation hub, citing the city's robust cargo infrastructure and the advantage of covering half the world's population within a five-hour flight.
