Caricature: Killing without remorse
In the early hours of Oct. 14, the Israel Defense Forces conducted an airstrike on refugee tents at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip. The attack left at least five people dead and around 70 others injured, most of them women and children. Videos captured by eyewitnesses show a young man burning alive after the explosion sparked a fire, with his mother also perishing in the flames.
Over the past year, Israeli forces have repeatedly targeted medical facilities in Gaza, indiscriminately killing Palestinian civilians. A group of 65 American healthcare workers who have served in Gaza over the past year recently documented their experiences in The New York Times, sharing the grim reality they've witnessed.
One of the doctors on the ground has treated many young children, most of them under the age of 12. Many of these children had gunshot wounds to the head or left side of the chest, and by the time they arrived at the hospital, they were either already dead or in critical condition.
