Caricature: Homeless masterpieces
According to a report by The Guardian, over the 10 years from 2010 to 2020, local government spending on museums and galleries in the UK has fallen by 27%.
A number of museums across the UK, including the People's Story Museum in Edinburgh, have been forced to stop operating.
The President of the British Museums Association, expressed her concern, "I have worked in the industry for 10 years and this is the worst situation I have ever experienced. I've been talking to a number of museum curators recently who are dealing with insolvency experts".
