HK Govt to develop 'Study in Hong Kong' brand to attract students globally
Chief Executive John Lee is set to present a new Policy Address next Wednesday (Oct. 16). Some media quoted sources as saying that it will officially propose the creation of a "Study in Hong Kong" brand to attract more local and international students to choose Hong Kong as their study destination.
The initiative will also include scholarships aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of the "Study in Hong Kong" brand. The goal is to encourage more students, including those from ASEAN countries and the "Belt and Road" regions, to study and potentially settle and work in Hong Kong in the long term, thereby increasing the talent pool and contributing to the future of Hong Kong.
Hong Kong universities have recently ranked in the top 100 globally in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the QS World University Rankings released in June.
The Secretary for Education, Choi Yuk-lin, mentioned in a media interview that there is a strong demand for education from countries along the "Belt and Road." Hong Kong's highly internationalized education system, trilingual society, and top-quality educational infrastructure make it easy to integrate internationally.
Being part of the Greater Bay Area provides additional opportunities for academic institutions to expand and enhance their offerings. Choi revealed that there have been promotional visits to Australia, and plans are underway for further promotion in the United States and Europe to advance the "Study in Hong Kong" brand.
