A woman in Hong Kong shared a distressing experience on the threads platform, claiming that she was mistaken for a shoplifter and manhandled by plainclothes security while shopping at a Mannings store in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Her post, describing her ongoing distress and rapid heartbeat, garnered significant attention online, receiving over 3,000 likes and numerous supportive comments urging her to report the incident to the police for further investigation.

In her detailed post, the woman described her shopping trip at the Mannings store on Cameron Road, where she purchased two boxes of loquat syrup and paid using a self-checkout kiosk. However, as she walked about 50 meters from the store, two women suddenly confronted her. "Suddenly, one woman grabbed my neck while another grabbed my backpack, shouting, 'Come with me! You didn't pay! You're stealing!'" she recounted.

The woman screamed for help, initially fearing she was being kidnapped, before being pulled back into the store. Inside, the manager was informed of the situation. She expressed her shock and fear, explaining how she fortunately had the receipt in her pocket, which she promptly showed to prove her innocence. She questioned the manager about the aggressive approach taken by the security staff.

The manager explained that the two women were their plainclothes security personnel. A male bystander intervened during the altercation, offering to testify for the woman. One of the guards put her arm around the poster's shoulder like an "old friend" and admitted to the misunderstanding. The poster rebuked the security guard, saying, "Don't touch me".

The woman expressed her shock and dismay over the incident and mentioned that she had filed a complaint with the chain's customer service department but had not yet received a response.
