Be like Bolt: Dog stops police car to rescue injured owner
In the United States, a 13-year-old dog named Gita heroically ran into the middle of the road to stop a passing police car when her 84-year-old owner suddenly fell and couldn't get up. She then led the officer to her owner, who was promptly taken to the hospital and saved.
According to ABC News, on Sept. 25, Officer Colton Wright was patrolling a rural forest area in Stevens County, Washington, when he encountered Gita blocking the road. Initially thinking she was lost, Wright intended to take her to the station.
However, Gita refused to get into the car. After checking and finding no reports of a missing pet nearby, Wright sensed something unusual. Attempting to move Gita from the middle of the road, he noticed her friendly gaze, as if "she had something to say," and followed her as she led him down an unmarked, seldom-used path.
Wright followed Gita to a cabin where he found an elderly man lying on the ground near the cabin, calling for help. He immediately called for emergency services, and the man was transported to the hospital and has since been safely discharged.
