Poodle found trembling in fear for over 5 hours after being abandoned in trash bin
Yesterday (Oct. 1), a poodle was found in a trash bin near a bus stop outside Flora Garden on Cloud View Road in North Point.
At approximately 8 a.m. on Oct. 1, the police received a report from a citizen who had discovered a small white poodle, about one foot in length, in the trash bin, suspecting the dog had been abandoned.
When discovered, the frightened and trembling poodle looked pitiful and distressed.
After the police and officers from the Hong Kong Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) arrived at the scene to investigate the situation, they took the dog away for further care. The case is currently being treated as "cruelty to animals."
It is reported that the poodle did not have a pet microchip and is estimated to be around 7 or 8 years old. The dog's health condition remains unclear. The woman who discovered the dog expressed her outrage at the abandonment, condemning the act as cruel.
Preliminary estimates by the police and SPCA suggest that the dog had been in the bin for at least 5 to 6 hours.
The SPCA strongly condemned the act of abandoning pets in public spaces or trash bins, stressing that such behavior is illegal and inflicts severe harm on the animals.
