Asian Table Tennis Championships | Wang Chuqin lost to 14-year-old Iranian youngster
The 2024 Asian Table Tennis Championships continue today (Oct. 8). The Men's Quarter-Finals saw China take on Iran at 1:00 pm.
In the first set of men's singles, World No.1 Wang Chuqin faced 14-year-old Iranian youngster Benjamin Faraji, and Wang was defeated by 2-3. The national team lost the first set unexpectedly.
In the second set of the men's singles, 19-year-old Lin Shidong, who had just won the WTT China Slam, faced Iran's number one player, Alamiyan Daronkolaei Noshad, who had broken through China's defenses many times. The result was that Lin Shidong survived the pressure and narrowly beat his opponent 3-2, and made it a big score of 1-1 for Iran.
In the third set, Liang Jingkun defeated Iran 3-0 to help the score a 2-1 lead over Iran.
In the fourth set, Wang Chuqin was on the court again and beat Alamiyan 3-1 with his great form.
