HKMAO: More favorable policies in works for HK
More favorable policies for the two Special Administrative Regions (SARs) were in the works, according to the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office (HKMAO), which states that the central government was dedicated to promoting the growth of Hong Kong and Macao.
In an article published on Sunday, the HKMAO said Beijing had rolled out favorable policies according to the needs of Hong Kong and Macao, such as raising the duty-free shopping allowance and increasing the number of mainland cities for individual travel to Hong Kong and Macao.
The office also noted the recent improvements in Hong Kong's international rankings in finance, business environment, and IPO fundraising, while Macao had retained its title of Asia's best convention city.
"Hong Kong and Macao's 'golden signboards' are shining brighter, and their economies are increasingly 'coming alive' and 'heating up'," the HKMAO wrote.
The HKMAO added the two SARs would continue to flourish by leveraging their high levels of internationalization, market-oriented systems, and rule of law.
"With the strong backing of the great motherland, the compatriots of Hong Kong and Macao will certainly create a better future," the article read.
