Shenzhen Bay Port metro nears completion: Line 13 enters 'test run' phase

The Shenzhen Bay Port is set to be connected to the metro system soon. The southern section of Phase I of Shenzhen Metro Line 13 has officially entered the "test run" phase, marking a crucial step towards the line's eventual opening.

The nearest metro exit to Shenzhen Bay Port is Exit C, which is less than a hundred meters' walk from the port's customs area.

A "test run" refers to a non-passenger trial operation in which trains simulate the actual service schedule prior to the official opening.

According to national regulations, the test run must last for at least 20 consecutive days, during which eight key performance indicators—including schedule adherence, train punctuality, and service reliability—must meet the required standards. This phase serves as a comprehensive assessment of the safety and reliability of the line's operational management and equipment systems.

According to the Shenzhen government, the entire Phase I of Line 13 starts at the Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint and runs 22.4 kilometers to Shangwu Station in Bao'an District, passing through the Houhai CBD, the Shenzhen Hi-Tech Industrial Park, the Xili high-speed railway hub, and the Liuxiandong Headquarters Base. The section between the Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint and the Shenzhen Hi-Tech Industrial Park will open this year.

The new line is expected to significantly alleviate traffic pressure in the western and central districts, optimize the city's transportation network, and improve travel efficiency for residents. Additionally, it will enhance the convenience of travel between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, further deepening cross-border connectivity and integration within the Greater Bay Area.
