Jennie, a member of the popular K-pop group BLACKPINK under YG Entertainment, has sparked heated discussion online after allegedly experiencing racial discrimination at the Chanel Spring-Summer 2025 fashion show.
During the event, American actress Margaret Qualley touched Jennie's hair and asked, "Is this your real hair?" Jennie, visibly uncomfortable, responded with "No."
Additionally, fans noted that when taking a photo with Jennie, Qualley appeared to deliberately avoid Jennie's kiss pose.
Jennie attended the fashion show with blonde hair, though she is in fact a native Korean, not of mixed race.

A fan of Jennie shared the video on social media, and the clip quickly went viral. One user, who isn't a fan of Jennie, reposted the video and commented, "I'm crying so white people just be doing this to everybody."

The repost ignited widespread debate, with many users flooding the comments to defend Jennie, agreeing that she had experienced racial discrimination. As of now, the repost has garnered 200,000 likes.
On Chinese social media, some users studying abroad also affirmed, "This is discrimination against Asians."
