Guangdong Fashion Week to accelerate industry cooperation in GBA
The 2024 Guangdong Fashion Week Autumn Session kicked off in Panyu, Guangzhou, yesterday (Sept. 20) and will run until Sept. 29. The fashion industries of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao are accelerating their integration through various channels, including collaborations between designers and brands, building cross-border sales platforms, and enhancing talent development and exchange.
This year's Guangdong Fashion Week features over 100 fashion brands, 200 designers, and 500 companies or institutions, with participation from 20 industrial hubs across China. The event will host 81 fashion-related activities, including new product launches, brand ordering sessions, fashion exhibitions, and trade exchanges, showcasing the latest trends and driving industrial upgrades in the fashion sector.
In recent years, a growing number of HK designer brands and studios have relocated to Guangdong to overcome the limitations of a saturated and highly competitive local market. This movement has fostered closer collaboration and mutual flow between the fashion industries of Guangdong and HK.
Industry experts noted that Guangdong is currently undergoing a transformation and upgrade in the fashion design sector, with strong demand for creative design. By leveraging HK's status as a global fashion hub, the two regions can share resources and complement each other's strengths, jointly promoting the development of the GBA's fashion industry.
A representative from the China Fashion Association said that both Guangdong and HK fashion designers have unique strengths and characteristics, and further collaboration between them is essential. The fashion industries in both regions also have well-developed supply chains, providing opportunities for deeper integration to stimulate the GBA's fashion vitality.
