Man armed with bladed weapons in rooftop standoff with police at Lei Muk Shue Estate
At 10:56 a.m. today (Oct. 1), police received a report that a man, approximately 40 years old, was wandering a corridor at Kin Shue House in Lei Muk Shue Estate, armed with a knife and scissors, and banging on his neighbor's metal gate with the weapons.
Upon arrival, officers located the man on the building's rooftop. He had climbed over the edge and was precariously standing with one foot on a metal bar, creating an extremely dangerous situation. He then sat on the edge of the rooftop.
Firefighters deployed an air cushion on the ground below in an attempt to rescue the man while officers wearing stab-proof vests stood by on high alert. According to sources, the man is suspected to have been experiencing a mental health crisis.
