Man caught flying unregistered drone in Wan Chai, issued summons by police

This morning (Oct. 1), police officers patrolling the Harbour Road Garden in Wan Chai spotted a small drone flying overhead.

Following an initial investigation, officers identified a 51-year-old local man named Ng, allegedly operating the drone without proper registration. Authorities have issued a summons to the man.

Police reiterated that the Small Unmanned Aircraft Order (Cap.448G) took effect on June 1, 2022. All drone operators must comply with the regulations set out in the order, whether for recreational or commercial purposes. Violators could face a maximum fine of HK$100,000 and up to two years in prison if convicted.
