South Korean semiconductor inventories hit record low amid AI boom
The South Korean National Statistical Office announced that semiconductor inventories in Aug. saw a year-on-year decrease of 42.6%, a drop sharper than July's 34.3%, marking the fastest decline since 2009.
Data also showed that production and shipments increased by 10.3% and 16.1%, respectively, indicating that the chip industry remained in a boom for most of the third quarter.
According to Bloomberg, this reflects a continued strong demand for high-performance memory chips needed for the development of artificial intelligence.
