With less than a week to go before the mainland's National Day "Golden Week," Macao is expecting an average of 100,000 visitors per day during the holiday period.
Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of Macao Government Tourism Office, shared in a media interview that, according to her knowledge, local hotel bookings last week reached 70%, with most five-star hotels almost fully booked. Bookings for hotels of other star ratings are expected to surge this week.
Senna Fernandes noted that last month, Macao saw a record-breaking 3.65 million visitors, exceeding expectations. She hopes for favorable weather to attract more than 100,000 daily visitors during the "Golden Week." If all factors align positively, the numbers could surpass initial estimates.
She added that typically, the last week before a long holiday sees the highest booking rates. Combined with a trend toward later bookings post-pandemic, she anticipates a significant increase in hotel bookings this week.
