The arrival of two giant pandas, "An An" and "Ke Ke," was gifted by the central government to Hong Kong today (Sept. 26).

Simon Yim, founding chairman of the Hong Kong Panda Education Foundation, has reported a surge in "Panda Fever" across society.

Yim highlighted that photos of giant pandas posted by Ocean Park on social media have attracted significant attention. Panda-themed merchandise, especially in dining, has become particularly popular among customers. Themed dishes like panda-shaped tangyuan and panda latte art are especially favored by customers.

Earlier, in collaboration with the Space Museum, a light show featuring giant pandas was projected on the museum's exterior, which was well-received by the public. Many people also visited the nearby malls and restaurants in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Yim hopes that more merchants will seize this commercial opportunity to boost consumption by introducing panda-themed products. The sustainability of this "Panda Fever" depends on government initiatives and the cooperation of merchants and the public.

Yim suggests the business community could emulate Sichuan's approach by developing panda-related tourism and creative cultural products.
