A large number of Hong Kong residents have been attracted to travel to mainland China, thanks to the high cost-performance ratio (CPR), numerous tourist attractions, and excellent service there.
According to the latest survey from Trip.com, the trend of Hong Kong residents traveling to the Greater Bay Area (GBA) continues to grow.
As many as 94% of respondents indicated that they had traveled to the GBA in 2024, with over half visiting the area at least six times within the year.
Furthermore, 35% of respondents said that they had visited there more than ten times, most of which are aged 45 and above.
During the summer vacation from July to August, the number of Hong Kong residents traveling to the GBA significantly increased by about 30% compared to the same period last year.
Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Guangzhou are the most popular destinations among Hong Kong travelers.
In terms of travel arrangements, the survey found that the preference for day trips and overnight trips was roughly equal.
For those choosing overnight stays, most travelers would spend one to two nights in the GBA, indicating that it can meet their needs of short-term leisure.
Regarding accommodation choices, most travelers prefer hotels priced between Hk$200 and HK$600, which reflects that cost-performance ratio is an important consideration for many travelers.
