17kg chubby cat's failed escape from 'Fat Camp': Stuck in shoe rack

In Russia, a tabby cat named Kroshik, abandoned by its owner and residing in a hospital basement, ballooned to 17 kilograms due to daily staff feeding.

Animal shelter workers, finding him unable to walk due to his weight, decided to put him on a diet. However, the cat could not endure the strict regimen and attempted to flee the shelter, only to get stuck in a shoe rack.

A household cat's ideal weight is about 10 pounds, making Kroshik nearly three times overweight. Reports indicate that Kroshi is under strict exercise and dietary control at the animal shelter and made a displeased escape attempt. Due to his large size, he ended up trapped between the bars of a shoe rack, his face stuffed into a blue slipper.

Shelter veterinarian Ekaterina Bedakova shared on Instagram: "Kroshik... caused quite a stir today. He was very upset when we found him 'disguised as a slipper,' but he calmed down after a meal."

The shelter staff have crafted a weight loss plan for Kroshik, which includes a new diet and regular treadmill exercises. To reduce stress on his joints, they even have him running in water. The veterinarians are optimistic about his new health regimen, expecting him to lose between 50 to 70 grams per week.
