HKO: Chance of issuing Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal relatively low unless tropical depression intensifies significantly
The area of low pressure over the central part of the South China Sea has intensified into a tropical depression and entered within 800 kilometers of Hong Kong. The tropical depression is expected to move westwards across the South China Sea in the general direction of the vicinity of Hainan Island and the central to northern parts of Vietnam today and tomorrow.
According to the present forecast, the tropical depression will maintain a distance of around 600 kilometers or farther from Hong Kong. Based on the present assessment, unless the tropical depression intensifies significantly, the chance of issuing Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal is relatively low.
