Trump says 'I hate Taylor Swift' but faces backlash from Swift's fans
According to Reuters, Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump declared hatred for Taylor Swift in a Truth Social post on Sunday (Sept. 15), days after Swift endorsed Kamala Harris.
The post was written in all caps: "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"
On the night of Sept. 10, following a televised debate between Harris and Trump in Philadelphia, Swift informed her 283 million fans that she would be voting for Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
After Trump's declaration, Swift's fans—known as "Swifties"—rallied on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), encouraging each other to push the phrase "I LOVE TAYLOR SWIFT" to the top of trending topics, which quickly gained tens of thousands of likes.
Meanwhile, Harris's running mate, Waltz, responded on X, stating that with the support of Swifties, he and Harris would defeat "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived"—a reference to the title of one of Taylor's new songs.
