Bebinca expected to make landfall along Jiangsu-Zhejiang coast early Monday morning

Chinese Central Meteorological Observatory issued an orange alert for Typhoon Bebinca at 10 AM today (Sept. 15).

The typhoon's center was located approximately 580 kilometers southeast of Shanghai at 8 AM this morning, specifically at 29.6 degrees North latitude and 127.1 degrees East longitude, with maximum winds of level 12 (35 meters per second) near the center.

The Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that Bebinca will move west-northwest at a speed of 20-25 kilometers per hour, increasing its intensity.

It is expected to make landfall along the coast from Ningbo in Zhejiang to Qidong in Jiangsu between early morning and noon on the 16th (typhoon or strong typhoon level, levels 12-14, 35-42 meters per second), after which its intensity will gradually weaken.

Tropical storm Bebinca left the Philippines with six dead and at least two missing, the Philippine government said today.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said four died in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and two in Zamboanga Peninsula in the southern Philippines.

The agency added that one is missing in the Zamboanga Peninsula and the other in the Western Visayas region in the central Philippines.

The agency said that Bebinca, the sixth tropical cyclone to lash the Philippines since January this year, has affected over 200,000 people in nearly 300 villages. Almost 14,000 displaced villagers are in government-run temporary shelters.
