China initiates anti-dumping probe on Canadian canola
The Ministry of Commerce of China has announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation into canola seeds imported from Canada, effective immediately.
The Ministry stated that preliminary evidence and data indicate that canola seeds originating from Canada are being sold to China at prices below their normal value, constituting dumping.
There has been a significant increase in the volume of this product entering the Chinese market, with a continuous decline in prices, which has led to price undercutting and suppression, adversely affecting similar domestic industries in China. The investigation thus will explore the causal relationship between the dumping of Canadian imports and the substantial damage incurred by the domestic industry.
The period under review for the dumping investigation is the previous year, while the period for investigating industry damage spans from Jan. 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2023.
