'China Travel': 5.722 mn foreigners visited China from January to July 2024
The State Council Information Office held a press conference today (Aug. 27) and announced that from January to July 2024 the number of foreigners visiting China reached 5.722 million, a year-on-year growth of 403%. It is estimated that foreigners traveling to China have consumed more than RMB 100 billion.
It is reported that 341 million people entered and left China at various mainland ports in the first seven months, a year-on-year increase of 62.34%; 846,000 visas were issued at various ports, a year-on-year increase of 182.9%. Among them, 5.722 million foreigners visited China, a year-on-year increase of 403%.
There were 3.803 million people who attended business meetings and 1.723 million who paid visits to friends and relatives, an increase of 81.5% and 107.4% year-on-year respectively.
The 72/144-hour visa-free transit policy for foreigners from 54 countries such as the U.S., Canada and the U.K. has been implemented in nearly 40 open ports in 18 provinces (autonomous regions and direct-administered municipalities) since November last year.
